hello, I am odesso 𓁿

I am an artist working with image data and digital collage to explore how human creativity can exist within data-driven systems and in a rapidly changing world. 

My practice mirrors the processes of machine image generation, but is carried out entirely by hand. Working in Photoshop, I manually select and layer pixels from over 200 source images, building my own datasets from public-domain and open-source archives, including scientific and historical image collections. I pull pixels, colours and forms, from images that have been largely forgotten.

I use data as paint.

Through this slow, repetitive process, I create compositions that sit between data and art, analogue and digital, order and chaos. I choose human labour over automation, with each work being shaped with prolonged care. Made by a human, for humans.
